American Heart Association
The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. At the forefront of research and education on cardiovascular issues, the AHA publishes the Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care every five years. The ECC International Team is responsible for developing and revising the AHA training materials, which are produced in nine languages and used for educational purposes in 33 countries. As a partner in this project, TransPerfect first created a customized workflow to allow the AHA to leverage past translations, organize content, and implement changes to the materials. Then, we localized the printed training materials and performed a combination of voice-over work, subtitling, graphic editing, and DVD authoring to localize the supplementary DVDs.
Sutter Health
Sutter Health is one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit networks of community-based healthcare providers, delivering high-quality care in more than 100 Northern California communities. Primarily serving diverse populations, Sutter regularly has a pressing, large-scale need for the translation of a range of healthcare-related documents in languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Hmong, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. To accomplish Sutter’s goal of streamlining processes and maximizing efficiency, TransPerfect developed a document library that allows Sutter employees to search a database of existing translations. Using this tool, Sutter avoids submitting previously translated materials and, as a result, realizes substantial cost savings. Moreover, the company has achieved significant progress in centralizing translations as well as success in its focus on greater cultural appropriateness.
